Digital Nomad Visa
The Digital Nomad Visa in Spain is a new form of legalisation for teleworkers and freelancers who want to live in the country while working remotely. All the conditions for obtaining a digital nomad visa in Spain are regulated by the so called Startup Law (Law 28/2022 of 21 December on the promotion of the start-up ecosystem), which entered into force on 23 December 2022.
What do you need to know?
- "Digital nomads" in Spanish law refers to natural persons who are third-country nationals (non-EU nationals) and who work remotely for companies located outside Spain. At the same time, these employees must prove their education, qualifications and professional experience.
- Requirements, which must be fulfilled by the applicant:
- Work remotely for a company located outside Spain, for at least 3 months.
- Freelance workers can work for a company located in Spain, as long as the income from this activity does not exceed 20% of the total income.
- They must prove their education, qualifications and professional experience (at least 3 years).
- Proof of the possibility to work remotely is also required.
- No criminal record within the last 5 years
